Faculty of Science, the Department of Mathematics and Informatics Summary at UEM
Amongst the areas of studies, the university offers courses such as Informatics in the Department of Mathematics and Informatics (DMI) within the Faculty of Sciences. The DMI is responsible for teaching and research in mathematics, computer science and statistics across the whole university. The experience of the course in informatics has been showing that the graduates have many opportunities for employment upon degree completion, and that they are important for the different sectors of the economy of Mozambique. The department became involved in the process of curriculum review, which led to the rethinking of its teaching programmes, a process that culminated with the implementation of new  licenciatura curricula in mathematics and informatics, with the duration of 3 years, in 2010. These new courses seek, to a large extent, to correspond with the expectations of the society.
